Northern Cinema Guide

Editorial policy

Northern Cinema Guide aims to make clear, grounded writing about cinema and northern place. We check factual claims, show the basis for interpretations and correct mistakes when readers bring them to our attention.

Accuracy and interpretation

We check names, dates, film details and other factual claims against suitable sources before publication. Interpretations of a film are presented as readings, not settled facts. We avoid claims that cannot be supported and make uncertainty clear when it matters to a reader's understanding.

Independence

Editorial decisions are made for relevance to readers, not to satisfy a commercial partner. A partnership does not buy a favourable review or control the conclusions in independent editorial work. If a relationship could affect how a piece is understood, we explain it plainly.

Corrections

If an article contains an error, readers can contact us with the article title, the point at issue and any helpful detail. We review correction requests, amend confirmed mistakes and make significant changes clear in the article. We do not silently preserve a known factual error.

Partner material and images

Paid placements, sponsored work and other partner material are labelled clearly where they appear. They are kept distinct from independent editorial coverage. Some illustrations may be AI-generated; when that is the case, the illustration is identified so readers can distinguish it from documentary imagery.
